TLDR: Original cable and port stops working and then starts working again whenever I plug into a different port, and plug it back. Has also happened with an original Apple cable but third party port. The same port will simply refuse to connect with the same cable even when both are working fine with different ports/cables.įor at least 2 years since I've changed my cables to USB-C, this happens with Cables A/B/C/D with Ports A/B/C/D, no matter how many new ones I get, from different reputable third party non-Apple brands. Sometimes, Port A can completely stop working with Cable A, even after these steps but it will work if I plug in Cable B. I test Cable B with Port A too, just to be extra sure. I test Cable A with Port A again - it works? I test the original Port A with another Cable B, it works - so nothing is wrong with Port A. Hi! I need someone to explain why this happens to USB-C cables and ports, no matter which brand I get, I've never had this problem with USB 3.0 or any cables that have existed before USB-C.Ĭontext: Cables are used to charge these devices - iPhone XR, iPhone 12, iPad Air 2.Ĭable A stops working suddenly with Port A.
